Changi Airport Group (CAG) has awarded a S$985 million contract to Takenaka Corporation for the construction of Changi Airport's Terminal 4 (T4).

Construction is expected to start in Q1 2014, and set to be completed in 2017.

It will involve the development of a new passenger terminal with a planned capacity of 16 million passenger movements per year and a two-storey holding area for taxis to pick up arriving passengers.

There will also be a multi-storey car park, an open air car park and a bridge across Airport Boulevard that will allow buses and other airside vehicles to move from the new terminal to remote aircraft stands being built at a land plot south of Terminal 3.

A 68-metre Ramp Control Tower will also be erected to oversee and manage aircraft movements.

Road improvement works will ensure smooth traffic to and from the terminal, while a new road will funnel outgoing traffic directly from T4 onto the East Coast Parkway.

Takenaka Corporation was previously involved in upgrading works for Terminal 2 in 2006 and Terminal 1 in 2012.
