National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan on Thursday launched the housing board's “Future Homes, Better Lives” exhibition, which runs until 15 September at the HDB Hub Atrium.
The event showcases the development plans for three new housing areas - Bidadari, Tampines North and Punggol Matilda. HDB will also look to gather the public's feedback and “innovative ideas to provide residents with a quality living environment”.
The distinctive character and history of each area will be incorporated into the planning.
For Bidadari, this includes a 10ha Bidadari Park and lake, six distinctive neighbourhoods, a mixed-use Market Square, a pedestrianised Upper Aljunied Road transformed into a heritage walk and seamless pedestrian and cycling network.
Over at Tampines North, there will be a 7.5ha Boulevard Park, a 10ha Quarry Park which could connect to Pasir Ris Town in the near future, seamless pedestrian and cycling network, and a new mixed development integrated with a bus interchange.
As for Punggol Matilda, there are plans to build new housing types with integrated landscaped decks, a community street, waterfront shopping mall, as well as recreational amenities and parks for community events.
“The exciting developments for the three housing areas are slated to take place within the next few years. The first project in Punggol Matilda with the new housing form will be launched in the BTO exercise next month, followed by Tampines North in the second half of 2014 and Bidadari in 2015. More details will be made available closer to the actual launches,” said HDB.
