The housing board is on track to deliver on its promise of 13,600 new flats by end-2013, according to National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan.
In his latest blog post, Mr Khaw said 9,000 flats have already been completed this year, or up 50 percent from June. At that time, 6,000 new units were ready.
“More than just meeting numbers, HDB is also delivering quality flats to home buyers,” said Mr Khaw.
Citing the example of Floral Spring @ Yishun, the Minister noted that the housing project is located “in an infill site, surrounded by existing residential developments”.
Despite the construction challenges, HDB along with the contractors were able to finish the project with minimal inconvenience to surrounding residents. This earned the project a Construction Quality Assessment System (CONQUAS) score that is comparable to condominiums.
“We will press on to deliver more flats to young couples ... so that they can start their family soon,” said Mr Khaw, adding that the target is to deliver over 28,000 new flats next year.
