A group of residents at Parc Oasis condominium (pictured) have sought help from the Strata Titles Board (STB) to address their parking woes, media reports said.
The 22 owners are asking the STB to repeal a bylaw passed by the condo's Management Corporation Strata Title (MCST) council on 15 June.
Under the rules, residents will be charged a monthly parking fee of S$100 for a second car and S$150 for the third vehicle onwards. Monthly management fees were also increased from S$56 to S$59 per share value.
The new charges are meant to offset a projected shortfall of S$353,000 for the next financial year's maintenance fund, the MCST said. The council had earlier explained that the levies were to address the shortage in parking lots, but this claim was withdrawn.
The owners argued that the new levies were discriminatory and unfair to those residents with two or more cars; and that all owners must contribute to the property's maintenance.
They noted that around four vehicles were wheel-clamped after owners failed to pay parking fees. Other owners chose to park elsewhere.
Meanwhile, the STB is expected to consider the arguments of both parties and decide whether the bylaw should be repealed or not.
