The latest Build-to-Order (BTO) exercise has attracted around 300 multi-generation families who are eligible to purchase the 84 3Gen flats offered for sale at Saraca Breeze @ Yishun, said National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan in a blog post.
The 3Gen flats comprise four bedrooms and three bathrooms and are bigger than the current five-room flats by five sq m.
They were “deliberately bundled” with five-room flats so that “those who could not select a 3Gen flat will have the additional option of choosing a five-room flat”, Mr Khaw noted. Alternatively, they can wait for next month’s BTO exercise, which will offer about 100 3Gen flats in Jurong West.
Meanwhile, the enhanced multi-generation priority scheme (MGPS) has seen a very encouraging response, with 42 pairs of applicants.
The scheme now allows parents to apply for three-room flats, in addition to a two-bedder or a studio apartment. Among the MGPS applications, nine out of 10 parents applied for a three-room flat.
The September BTO exercise closed on Wednesday and witnessed strong demand from singles, with 7,800 applications received.
