LOCATION, price and the number of bedrooms are the key factors for buyers of apartments in Adelaide, a report released today reveals.
Almost one in three respondents to the Apartment Living in Adelaide survey - commissioned by the Property Council, the Adelaide City Council and Renewal SA - pointed to the number of bedrooms as the most important consideration.
Location was the next most important (22 per cent), while only 9 per cent of respondents said parking was critical. Property Council SA executive director Nathan Paine said the survey of more than 300 people showed that designers, developers and assessors needed to rethink their approach.
"This is clearly a consequence of the way our planning system works in that it is more concerned about how existing residents interact with their surrounds than it is about the comfort and convenience of new residents."
Accountant Kerrie Nightingale recently bought a one-bedroom apartment at The Watson Apartments and Hotel project, Walkerville. The 28-year old said the quality of fixtures was important "but location was probably the most important".
