AU IKEA cooks up outdoor kitchen

THE laidback Aussie lifestyle has made an impact on one of the world's most iconic brands.

For the first time, designers at IKEA have reworked their kitchen collection to reflect the Australian love of outdoor living.

IKEA kitchen leader Tim Prevade said new showrooms had opened at all stores in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

"At IKEA we have been busy identifying the ins and outs of a variety of living situations to determine exactly what Australians need from their kitchens and outdoor spaces," he said.

"For Australian families it's a space where all aspects of life take place; from midnight feasts, baking parties and family discussions, to entertaining friends and creating memories.

"That's why, for the first time, IKEA has completely redesigned and rebuilt its kitchen showrooms to showcase the smartest kitchen living solutions, specifically for Australian families."

The Aussie-inspired kitchens are built using traditional IKEA techniques and showcase energy efficient LED lighting, induction hobs and reduced water pressure taps.

"The result is a spectacular collection of new kitchen roomsets that have been months in the making," Mr Prevade said.
