IT'S been a place of dreams for many holidaymakers - and now that dream is for sale.
The unique Round House on one of Hamilton Island's most prestige streets rents for $1500 a night, has had $1 million in renovations and is likely to sell for less than its replacement cost.
Designed in the 1980s, the 31 Melaleuca Drive home is famed for its circular architecture and is a magnet for luxury-seekers.
Hamilton Island Real Estate principal Wayne Singleton said the home was attracting interest from "lifestyle buyers" with a price range of around $4.5 million.
"It's hard to put a price on it, you either love it or hate it," Mr Singleton said.
"I think it cost well over $5 million to build, and that's being conservative."
The home has views of the Whitsunday Passage from every room, a wraparound infinity pool, four bedrooms and an elevator.
