SALTY sea-dogs and film enthusiasts alike will have the chance to start a new life on Treasure Island, with the northern beaches home of the late film producer Roger Mirams up for grabs.
Not only will the next owner be literally marooned - the house is not accessible by road - but many of the props from Mr Mirams' 1998 movie Search For Treasure Island are set up around the landscape, making visitors feel like they have stepped into an adventure story.
"Roger had a great sense of humour and a real zest for living,'' selling agent Kathryn Hall, of Kathryn Hall Real Estate, said.
"He passed away in 2004 but his wife Irene has remained living there until now.''
Irene Mirams, who also worked in the film industry, has decided to sell up to move closer to care facilities.
"Irene flies a skull and crossbones flag to let people know she's home,'' Ms Hall said.
A ferry ride from Palm Beach, the Great Mackerel Beach home is on the water.
It is scheduled to go to auction on July 21 with a price guide of $1.2 million.
